I was watching the interviews on the DVD for CoS, and
Jason Isaacs, who plays Lucius Malfoy, said when he
was looking at his character for the second DVD, he
watched the first and saw what a rotton little kid his
son was, so, he decided that if he "bullied" him
around a bit it might make us (the viewers) feel a
little sympathy for him...part of me wants to say that
this is the reason that JKR wrote that scene...we all
know what a little brat Draco is--and now we can see
why he is so rotten to people--because he learns from
the examples at home.  Growing up in that environment
w/ parents like that, you can't help but understand
why he is so mean to other kids, especially to the
"muggle-born" and half-wizards.  Not everyone is
strong enough to go against the teachings of their
parents (such as Sirius did), and we can't hold that
against them...
