That's not true.  Harry doesn't find out about Snape's hatred for 
his father until the very end of his first year, and by then Snape 
has already been treating him like dirt for months.

Harry is not at all oblivious to how Snape treats Hermione and 
Neville.  The only reason *we're* aware of how Snape treats Hermione 
and Neville is that Harry keeps noticing it; and his greatest pre-
OOP moment of anger toward Snape happens after the infamous "I see 
no difference" scene in GoF -- it's on Hermione's behalf that Harry 
is so furious, not his own.

There is a huge difference.  Snape is an adult in a position of 
authority and responsibily toward Harry.  Sirius and James were 
never in that position over Snape.  Snape is still alive and 
actively making Harry's life miserable. James has been dead for 
fifteen years, and Snape is *still* carrying a grudge.  If, twenty 
years from now, Harry is being a bastard to the orphaned Severus, 
Jr., then I will not hesitate to say that Harry has become as bad as 
Snape.  Until then, I say there's no comparison.
