Actually, even after "many" rereads of this book, I've never caught 
this before! Maybe this ties into the "Petunia/Magic" question. If, 
as has been speculated, Petunia has some link with the WW but was 
disappointed. Uncle Vernon, sweeps her into his arms and says, "let 
me take you away from all this" They make a pact, after Petunia 
tells her story, never to speak of this again.
