I merely stated that I could not work up a good cry for Sirius when he died. He was not a terribly sympathetic character to me in this book. Whatever happened to him in Azkaban, he escaped but his imprisonment doesn't seem to have changed his basic character--he doens't seem to be very
reflective after his ordeals. He is something of an overgrown schoolboy . . <<<<
And isn't that great! I think it's the genius of JK that she builds in that kind of paradox into her characters. The rebel scion of a dark, pureblood family, a survivor of Azkaban (perhaps his greatest achievment), a loyal friend and devoted godfather. Jeez, what's not to like? Allowing for those who thought him irresponsible and cocky, I personally miss his future role in Harry's future family. He sure deserved it. I've resisted saying "I hope JK brings him back" because it seems so final that he's been written out. OK, I hope she does. At the least, a magical portrait!
