Jenny from Ravenclaw is here to defend her dear Harry!
First, I must ask you, Jazmyn, why you see Harry as spoiled, as well
as ungrateful and bratty. He does have his faults (be them few and
far between), but spoiled? Who has spoiled this boy? I think it's
amazing he has such good manners at all, considering he was raised
without being taught more than "Keep your mouth shut and don't touch
anything!".
Then, I must agree with Darrin (as several others have already) in
that Snape really should be the adult and deal with Harry in a more
respectful way. It might be a lot easier for the two of them if Snape
didn't constantly take shots at Harry. I keep talking about being a
teacher, but I can't help it; I love my job. Now, my kids can be very
nasty, and I mean NASTY, but that doesn't mean that I give in and
curse at them, or put my head down on the desk or tell them that
they're all wack and boring, etc. Snape not only gives in to every
opportunity to be nasty to Harry, but he actively looks for them. He
is wasting time and energy on Harry that could be better spent on
himself (a good hair washing would do, for one). He really does go
out of his way to pick on, embarrass and make things more difficult
for Harry. There is not a single student in my school who merits that
kind of time from me.
Harry often seems baffled by Snape's behavior and it *is* telling that
he is able to decently make a potion when Snape isn't there to
intimidate him.
I *do* agree with anyone who says Harry should have apologized to
Snape and that is where he messed up. But to harbor a grudge against
an orphaned and abused kid because the kid's dead father was a jerk
twenty-whatever years ago? How can that possibly be okay? How can it
be healthy for Snape? Come on, already and just let it go! James is
dead!
