Ok..I'll preface this first by noting that although I am obviously a 
Snape fan, his conduct in the classroom leaves a LOT to be desired.

NOW--as for Harry making a "decent" potion when Snape is absent--he 
actually manages once in a while, and even here in OoP (2nd class I 
think) to manage a decent potion in Snape's presence, bottle it and 
turn it in for testing with no disasters. Sure it wasn't the "clear 
turquoise" that Hermione managed but neither did it belch black smoke 
nor congeal like concrete. The ONLY time we see Harry SCREW up in 
Potions is when he's MINDING SOMEONE ELSES BUSINESS.
We see *very few* potions classes. If he was getting abused by Snape 
in EVERY one, we'd see lots more, don't you think?
