Quote Rhosyn:
Snape: "This parchment is plainly full of dark magic." (Is this
thing what it appears to be?)
Lupin: "It looks to me as though it is merely a piece of parchment
that insults anybody who reads it." (Yes.)
Snape: "You don't think it more likely he got it *directly from the
manufacturers?*" (If he got it from you or James, fine; but if Black
had it last...)
Lupin: "It looks like a Zonko product to me..." (Don't worry...
Black couldn't have possibly.)

Wow. I had never considered such a reading of that incident, but that
does make a lot of sense. Using logic we can see that Snape already
knew the nicknames and such. But Snape was obviously surprised. Or
was he just plain furious? Or both? Wasn't that hilarious, though?
It makes me wonder who does that Pensieve belong to-Dumbledore or
does Snape also have one? Maybe they're like cars and you can rent
one for the day. Hehe. 'Cause if Snape borrowed it, where did
Dumbledore leave his memories? In there? This is my mis-directed
point, if Snape owned one or even had access to one for long
intervals, he could go back through that memory and find those
details. Why would he go back through a hated memory? Well, being the
masochist that I am, I do give myself the guilty pleasure of
remembering horrid events. It's very awful, but sometimes I can't
help myself.
Likewise, the incident could be so awful that Snape would never want
to remember it and thus, never 'study' it.
Yeah, I guess I am pretty wishy-washy, but either thing is possible.
(Sorry, again).
