People don't defend the likes of Umbridge as they did for Snape
simply because, as a character introduced since Book 1, and continue
to be developed and unveiled, Snape is someone readers rather *care*
about. He's not just some "one-shot-caricature-villain-of-the-day."

Sephora:

> Wow. This is one long post and I will end it now, but it's just so

> Dumbledore)? Isn't he wrong to punish the son for his father's sin?

You hit on something there. The reason there seems to be so much
mixed feelings (hate, loathe, despise, admire, love, obsess etc.)
toward Snape was because he is indeed one of the most interesting on-
going characters go way back from the very beginning, who continued
to bring enjoyment and mystery on to the story. I just love this guy;
he was one of the main reason I gave the series a chance (was not too
impressed with 1st book overall but was surprised by the Snape-was-
innocent-revelation at the end). I especially enjoyed his dynamics
and conflicts with Harry the most. I loved his backstory and
relationship with Maurauders. I cannot imagine the book without
someone interesting like him.

So I just don't understand someone who hates Snape in a "I-have-
enough-crap-from-this-guy-so-much-that-I-skipped-all-the-pages-he's-
in" or the "I-can't-stand-the-attentions-this-unworthy-undeserving-
git-has-drawn" way. Because it seems like either hate him or love
him, people just can't stop talking about him. I enjoyed reading all
the discussions and fans speculations about Snape.
