Me (Gail:
When I first read JKR's descriptions of food at Hogwart's I thought
that she was a bit hungry herself, having started writing when she
was living on public assistance. It also highlighted the contrast
between Hogwarts and the Dursley's. And I agree that it adds to the
midieval flavor - metal plates and goblets, candles, no electricity,
heating by fires, etc.. I'm surprised there aren't dogs running about
for the bones!
