Me:

Actually, Rickman was the furthest thing from my own mental image of
Snape. From the first book, I've been intrigued by his character,
because he's the most ambiguous. But I never thought of him as
particularly attractive. I'm convinced that he's a "good guy," and
I'm fascinated with JKR's ability to invent a character that makes
everyone talk about him almost in the same breath as Harry.

I think now we have some better idea why he's the way he is, and
although I make no excuses for his behavior (I've had fantasies of
visiting Hogwarts, turning him into a lab rat, and then bouncing him
around his own classroom a la Mad-Eye for some of the things he's
said).

I admire Snape for the fine line he's chosen, for his courage and his
abilities, but I don't think I'd enjoy his company. Rickman, on the
other hand . . .
