turn into her family, Harry, etc. But what if it's Molly herself
who's killed-off in the next book? The Weasley children are old
enough to deal with it now, and in true JK fashion, it would be
totally unexpected. Just when all the kids had about "left the nest"
and you'd hope for a happy ending for her and Arthur. Here's hoping
we never see the dark mark above the Burrow . . .

I've kind of wondered about Molly. Several intelligent posts have
referred JKR making Sirius less likable in this book (and in some
instances it seems to have really worked well) to help "prepare" us
for his death.

In all four previous books, Molly has been a nurturer for Harry. In
CoS, at the very beginning she protects Harry from the curiosity of
her brood. She has been foolish (her crush on Lockhart) and angry
(the flying car incidents) but still thoroughly admirable.
In this book, even though her wish is still to nurture, her
character has undergone a dramatic change. She "protects" Harry from
the information that Sirius would give him, perhaps contributing to
their downfall. When Ron makes prefect, she says "That's the whole
family." In effect disowning the twins. (although she mentions Percy)
Of course we know she's desperately worried so this post is not
intended to criticise.
Harry's reaction to Molly has changed as well. When she fusses over
him on the morning of his hearing, he "wished she wouldn't," and
this seems typical of his reaction to her mothering during his time
at OoP headquarters.

Of course, my fondest wish is a Weasley family reunited. I like them
as a whole (there's Percy, but hey, every family's got one) But, I'm
not sure any of her family will be able to throw themselves
completely into all that's to come with Molly (at least as she's
portrayed in Oop) holding on.
