I don't know- but it all goes back to Aberforth.  In the Lost 
Prophecy, DD says, "My- our- one stroke of good fortune was that the 
eavesdropper was detected..."  I think the "My- our" slip of the 
tongue will be important later.  I'm not sure how, but it is a 
feeling I have.  If Aberforth was involved, then it would be 
important because it would be more personal to DD so he might use the 
My instead of the all encompassing our.  

And it might be that Aberforth was the eavesdropper, and Snape who 
was trying to return at the time was the one who discovered.  Thus 
the animosity towards Aberforth, and the trust towards Snape.
