One of the greatest things about the HP books is the emotions they convey. My first reaction to the person of Harry was the empathy I felt for him. As I went on reading the books I felt a deep warmth for many other characters also. When reading OOP I felt very anxious about Harry's bahaviour, and I must admit some of the things he did shocked and upset me. Yet despite this I feel a deeper love for Harry than before. What happens to him matters to me more than anyone else in the books (and probably quite a few people in real life). Do others feel like I do?

There have been moments in the books when I've felt a strong surge of love towards Harry. And to other characters too. I'd like to start a new list naming moments when you felt you'd like to run into the book and hug the character, and say to him/her, "That was wonderful. I love you!"

I read COS first, and my moment of love was when Harry took of his sock and gave it to Lucius to give to Dobby.

Another moment in the same book was when Fawkes flew in and gave the sorting hat to Harry and blinded the basilisk. Can you run in and hug a Phoenix?

In POA it was when Harry woke up to what he was supposed to do after travelling back in time. He never hesitated a moment to do what he wanted.

In GOF it was when Harry risked his life to bring back Cedric's body.

And in OOP I felt like that when Harry drove out Voldemort through his love for Sirius.

For Ron I felt a powerful burst of sympathy in COS when he heard it was his sister who had been taken down in the COS. Harry felt Ron sliding down to the floor of the wardrobe they were in (what incredible writing!).
That's a slightly different type of moment of love though. A hug of sympathy rather.

There are many other moments like that but I'd like to give you the chance to add to the list.
