I just always thought that there was no replacement for potions.

We know he is one of the best potion makers in the WW (wolfsbane,
veritaserum - yeah my spelling is crap).

We know he wants DADA.  

But we have no idea how good he is at it.  

Presumably all the best peolpe at DADA are Aurors.  They ain't taken
anyone on in three years.  The Order would be good, but all employed
eslewhere.  Also *he stirs a hornet's nest* if he had any natural
talent wouldn't have let James abuse him so easily.

Don't mistake eagerness and enthusiasm for skill.

I can recall no evidence he has any real skil at this subject, and he
is REALLY good with potions.  No other wizard (bar Hermione) has shown
similar aptitude.  Even Dumbledore relys on him for potion making.
