Probably his father. He died in Hagrid's second year. We don't know 
how. Maybe he had been sick, so Hagrid had been allowed to go hime 
for a while and witnessed him dying.
Or, another theory: maybe it's not just humans, but animals as well 
(maybe not insects) and I bet anything Hagrid has seen many animals 
dying as a gamekeeper.
