Snape wears black. But what I find the most fascinating of all is the
Minister of Magic's attire. He wears a pinstriped cloak, a scarlet tie, a
black cloak, purple boots, and a lime-green bowler. To me, this indicates
that scarlet, black, purple, and green are important wizarding colors. As
you say, we see a lot of people wearing purple and green. At least one
character wears black. Have we seen anyone wear scarlet? And what do these
colors mean? I did note that the St. Mungo's healers wore green. Maybe
green indicates public service. As for the Minister, he would have be
representative of all the wizards, yet partial to none (in theory), hence
the multi-colors.

Maybe Peter never liked Goyle Sr. Or maybe he's got a little Crouch Jr.
going. After all, it was Crouch as Moody who turned Draco into the Amazing
Bouncing Ferret. Although I don't think their motives are quite the same.

That's the way I took it. Kind of small, I agree.

Interesting here, since McGonagall can turn into a cat.

And he also duels somewhat with Lucius in the Dept. of Mysteries.

I took this as Snape not wanting anyone to find out that he'd been playing
around in the third floor corridor. He could have easily gone to Madam
Pomfrey and had it taken care of in two minutes, but he was afraid it'd get
back to Dumbledore. Hence, his having Filch, a Squib who would have some
skill in Muggle techniques of care, to bandage the wound. What I don't get
is what the relationship is between Snape and Filch. He seems to trust
Filch to some extent, but yet appeared to almost be hiding a smile when Mrs.
Norris was petrified. If he is friends with Filch, it wouldn't be nice to
be enjoying his friend's misery, so I have to conclude that their
relationship is other than friendship, but I don't know what.
