I, for one, was incredibly surprised that Sirius' Christmas present to Harry was a, well, walkie-talkie mirror. Why on Earth did Harry not remember it until then? In the 6ish months following Christmas, when he was so very desperate to speak with him, he never remembered that mysterious little package? Sounds rather unbelievable to me, but there you are. Harry's not the most focused of people. It would've, of course, allowed Harry immediate contact with Sirius, so that would've completely changed about 200 pages (and the ending, certainly). Anyways, my question is:

What did you expect the package to be?

Myself, I hoped it was a diary, like Riddle's, that contained a "slice" of Sirius. However, that would've been extremely difficult magic... the Map comes to mind as well (16ish year old Padfoot, to some extent still exists there).
