I just thought that Snape wouldn't want to eat with the people there.  I 
don't imagine a meal would be civil with Sirius and Severus both there.  They can 
barely be in the same room without erupting into a fight, can you imagine an 
entire meal?  The majority of the room would be watching Severus and that would 
be uncomfortable for anyone.  Can you see him making small talk with any of 
them?  What would they talk about?  I think Severus just wants to spend as 
little time as he can there.  But there's definitely a vampire *somewhere* in the 
series...
