Who will learn magic late in life? Also, does learn mean "first"
learn or learn "more" magic. Too, how are we to construe the meaning
of the word "late"-it could imply someone very old or middle-aged or
could simply mean someone older than the normal 11 y.o. beginning
first year student.
My picks for the person who will learn magic late in life, in the
order I think they are likely (number 1 being the one I think is most
likely) My speculations for the last spots 9 and 10 are really just
throw ins so I would have ten.:
1. Petunia (after all her little Diddykins was attacked-and she
knows about Azkaban and knows Dumbledore); 2. Hagrid (needs to pick
up where he left off when expelled and master some high level DADA-
maybe he will participate in the DADA instruction of Dumbledore's
Army if Harry continues it); 3. Dudley; 4. Narcissa (do not believe
canon indicates she can perform magic-though they do say she is from
a pure blood family-but even V. lied to his followers about his true
ancestry); 5. Cornelius Fudge (what do we know about what he knows if
anything); 6. Mr. Olivander (and that mysterious single wand on
display in his window may yet be put to some use); 7. Gilderoy
Lockhart (so he can stop stealing other's work); 8. Umbridge (she
really did not perform anything too stellar-so could be a Kwikspelled
squib who got into ministry and got promoted by being related to
someone or due to enchantments); 9.The missing Weasley (who ran off
to be an accountant?); 10. Neville's grandmother (what do we really
know about her); Bonus- Hermione's mother or father-their Patronus
could be a drill. Extra Bonus-Aberforth Dumbledore-once he learns to
read!
I really do not think (beyond Umbridge mini theory) that we will see
either of our well known Squibs (Ms. Figg or Filcher) take on the
role. They are pretty well rounded characters as written.
