The family is a family of Muggles. She could have gotten a Hogwarts
letter years ago, but didn't.
>2. Hagrid (needs to pick up where he left off when expelled and
master some high level DADA- maybe he will participate in the DADA
instruction of Dumbledore's Army if Harry continues it);
Definitely possible he'll get some training, but he's a confirmed
wizard.
>3. Dudley;
No letter. The owls would have kept coming, and coming, and coming,
and coming .....
> 4. Narcissa (do not believe canon indicates she can perform magic
though they do say she is from a pure blood family-but even V. lied
to his followers about his true ancestry);
In the absence of statements to the contrary, we need to assume in
the magic world that everyone casts spells. Hermionie is the
EXCEPTION in the Muggle world - there is no need to mention that a
specific Muggle can't produce magic. In the Magic world, there's no
reason to mention that a certain person CAN produce magic.
> 5. Cornelius Fudge (what do we know about what he knows if
anything);
He's the MOM. In the absence of other evidence, he's a spell caster.
> 6. Mr. Olivander (and that mysterious single wand on display in his
window may yet be put to some use);
Confirmed wizard. See GoF "Weighing of the Wands."
> 7. Gilderoy Lockhart (so he can stop stealing other's work);
Confirmed wizard. Too many references in CoS to mention.
> 8. Umbridge (she really did not perform anything too stellar-so
could be a Kwikspelled squib who got into ministry and got promoted
by being related to someone or due to enchantments);
Confirmed witch. Lots of spells in OoP.
> 9.The missing Weasley (who ran off to be an accountant?);
Hmmm...I'd assume a wizard in the absence of other evidence (which,
there is, almost no evidence about anything).
> 10. Neville's grandmother (what do we really know about her);
She's a witch, in the absence of other evidence.
>Bonus- Hermione's mother or father-their Patronus could be a drill.
Ha! No letters from Hogwarts - they're Muggles. Funny idea, though!
> Extra Bonus-Aberforth Dumbledore-once he learns to read!
You don't need to read to be a wizard - remember the little kid at
the Quiddich World Cup?
What's more interesting to me, though, would be the potential for
some of the creatures in the books - Dobby and Fierenze, maybe some
goblins, to start using wands. We know that they *can* do it; that's
why there are laws to *prevent* them from doing it. I wonder what
powers that could bring out?
And even more interesting to me is the possibility that Harry (and
possibly others) will discover how to cast focused spells without
wands. We know that all wizards can but the results are generally
poor. But what if someone works at it?
