No, I believe the Hat wanted to pick Harry for Slytherin because of 
his link to Voldemort, who I believe to have been a Slytherin. 

Ambition above all other things seems to be the Slytherin trait, 
whereas Harry, Ron and Hermione, three kids who don't lack for 
ambition, also have courage, self-sacrifice and honor.

Yeah, it took all kinds of courage to kill two 20-something wizards 
and try to kill a baby he thought was helpless.

Give me a break. Courage would have been waiting until Harry was of 
age and then challenging him to resolve this prophecy stuff once and 
for all.

He showed no more "courage" than Hilter did. Or Herod, in killing 
babies.
