       Hm, maybe this is a part of the confusion on Hogwarts numbers. I read 
this to say that the 'about 1000' figure includes all the students, faculty, 
admin. personnel and other staff. Is she counting the house-elves as well? Is 
so, perhaps the estimates on low numbers of students are correct and the 
remaining total comes from the full staff of Hogwarts.
