Ooohh, yes! Unless this was all a set-up from the beginning for Harry
to eventually get to the Stone, it is monumentally annoying that
Hagrid has such a big mouth here, but later in PoA, Hagrid *doesn't*
tell Harry about Sirius, James and Lily? When it comes to big and
hairy beasts, Hagrid's brain (which is no brain to be proud of) goes
down the toilet fast.

are supposed to be examples for the students (at least...that's the
argument the anti-Snapes use, right?).>
Most definitely. People have vehemently argued that Hagrid is first
and foremeost a friend to the Trio, but I don't buy that. Hagrid
covers his face with his hands and cries in front of plenty of other
students as well. If I openly showed my emotions that way in any of
my classes, my assistant principal would pull me aside to have a nice
chat with me where she'd ask me if I was sure I wanted to continue
being a teacher. I have developed friendships with several students
over the years, but, even outside of the classroom, do not reveal more
personal feelings to them. I will always be the adult in that
dynamic.
>It's bad enough he has giant in the forest, but to ask his students
to care for it? That's dangerous.>
Yup. I really don't care if Hagrid did have to leave Hogwarts; if he
chose to drag his hideous, filthy, enormous brother from
who-knows-where, he should take some damned responsibility for it. I
have very little patience for people who refuse to see things from
others' perspectives, and that is a major problem of Hagrid's. He
shouldn't have even shown the giant to Harry and Hermione, just as he
should NEVER have allowed Harry to see the dragons in GoF. He should
learn how to actually think things through because then he might
remember that just because he is quite large and strong (and an
adult), does not mean that the students at Hogwarts have the same
advantages he does.
> 9. The drinking. This is the teenager in me talking. One too many
"ALCOHOL KILLS" health classes for me I think. Hagrid seems like he
drinks a lot.>
He does drink at times when he shouldn't. I don't care if it is
off-hours, he is working at a job where he may be on-call at any time.
> Well...there ya have it. *yells* I HATE HAGRID!!! Feels good to
say it...>
It does, doesn't it? I am so glad that I am not alone anymore! I
think I love you now. :-)
