There are some very convincing points made in this post. However, I
don't but it. I don't understand why DD would want the fact that
Percy is on the inside kept from Molly and Arthur. What good would
it cause? What would the point be? Perhaps to keep that from the
DE's should they decide to torture Molly and Arthur, but even that
wouldn't be foolproof. The DE's would most likely decide to kill all
Weasley's if they went after one. And at this point Harry is the
only one LV cares about.
I believe that Arthur and Molly tried to get Percy interested in the
Order, but Percy resisted. And once Arthur told Percy the reason
Percy got the job was because Fudge wanted a spy, Percy's ego got
bruised. And once that happened, Percy stormed out, acted like a
spoiled brat and cut himself off from a family that in Percy's mind
doesn't believe in him.
Of course, I am a bit miffed at Percy at the moment. I just hope the
arrogant fool has the good sense to apologize to his family. I think
the entire charaterization of Percy centers on the young adult, who
is ambitious, will do anything to get where they want, and in getting
it very easily gets a big head. This type of story usually involves
a crash a little while later. I think Percy's crash will happen when
he realizes that he turned his back on his loved ones to support
someone who risked the entire wizarding community by being too weak
to face the truth. I also think that Percy, Fred and George will be
on the outs from now on. Because the twins don't seem the forgive
and forget type.
