I didn't notice that, but did think it was odd that he rescued her
and nobody else. I figure they have a "close" relationship because
of (fill in your own icky theory here).
I also hypothesized, after re-reading PS/SS, that Bella is being set
up as the "queen" that Ron will sacrifice himself to, so that Harry
can beat Voldemort, paralleling the chess match in that book.
Speaking of PS/SS--in OOP, US version, when the group is thinking of
forming their own DADA class, Neville says that Harry "saved that
Sorcerous stone." Hermione hisses, "Sorcerer's!" and Neville
agrees. Is that bit of dialogue in the UK version? And if so, why?
Does it make sense, since that wasn't the original title there? If
not, what's the dialogue in the UK version?
