I thought the blood protection thing had to be his mother's blood?
Which means feasably AD could be related on James' side of the family
not Lily's...
By the way this is just me playing devils advocat, I personally agree
with you and think that the Dursleys weren't so much 'the best of a
bad lot' but the 'only lot'. I don't think Harry and Dumbledore are
blood relatives, I do think a nice connection would be AD being
Godfather to one of Harry's grandparents - but that's just wishful
thinking.
An image has just popped into my head though of AD and MMc in the
road outside #4. I don't remember the exact dialogue, but something
like this..
MMc (Indignantly): "Harry Potter! Live here?"
AD (his knowing smile, his hands hidden in the folds of his robe):
"They are his only living relatives," and added in an undertone just
before he uncrosses all his fingers, "on his mother's side..."
Sorry only piece of fanfic I've ever written - but I thought it was
funny and it's the kind of thing I'd expect from a man who's brother
performs 'inappropriate' charms on goats...
Karen (who's lack of sleep is starting to show ever more obviously)
