I thought about this question when the Howler arrived for Petunia in 
OOP.  "Remember my LAST..." (emphasis mine) 
Harry is told all through the books that the Dursley's are his only 
relatives - his LAST remaining relatives. Could the LAST in the 
Howler reffer to AD's LAST relative rather than his LAST letter.
Do we have any canon to back this up or am I delerious with lack of 
sleep???

I have not found any canon-but your thoughts echo those debated in 
several prior posts, see post #64542 and its replies.  I really think 
that Dd and HP are distantly related and in her recent interviews, 
when JKR said Hogwarts staff had been married but their spouses were 
kept confidential this was because:
she does not want people knowing Dd is related to Harry and worrying 
about favoritism; she does not want teachers spouses, families, 
friends etc exposed to even more danger by being on the 
teacher's "loved ones" list
