Ginny and Books 6 & 7

My sentiments exactly, Rachel, although I hadn't considered all the 
cat references.

Ginny is outpacing Hermione in my eyes.  Hermione has the book 
smarts and is the voice of reason.  Ginny has been schooled by 
living with the Weasley boys, yet not letting any of them know what 
she was up to (witness her breaking into the broom closet and taking 
each of their brooms out in turn--Fred and George had no clue she 
was doing it).  She also is becoming a powerful witch, as you say--
Bat Bogey Hex.  Additionally, she has the ability to bring Harry 
back to earth without being hysterical about it.  The fact she went 
from being a meek, hero-worshipping little girl to a self-confident, 
witty teenager is not to be underestimated, IMO.
