This tells me that she managed to escape when Grawp scattered the

Me:

Y'know, this reminds me: at risk of finding myself accused of being
the grumpiest thing since a garden gnome with a toothache: this is
the second time [by my count] that Harry and/or his buddies have been
rescued in the Forest by a "deus ex machina"-type happenstance [and I
HOPE I spelled that Latin right!] -- the other being the time the
feral car that used to belong to the Weasleys came along just in time
to rescue Harry from the giant spiders.

Lots of lit-crits will tell you that when an author relies on
something like this, instead of an actual act on the part of a
conscious protagonist, he or she has run out of steam (at least for
the time being). I was disappointed when the car saved Harry -- it
seemed like kind of a cheap and easy solution to his predicament (for
that matter, those talking spiders were a bit over-the-top, even for
PotterWorld, in my opinion, as well). Likewise, when Grawp showed up
at just the right time, I sighed and said, "Oh well, here's one thing
that Wizard ingenuity WON'T get us out of!"

Anyone else have the same reaction?
