Why Hermoine trusts Snape/justifying Snape

If you try not to take him as seriously as he takes himself, then he
is quite humorous. And you have to admit, the come-back was priceless
(though I agree it should not have been directed at a child). If I
were Hermione, I probably would have commented about his nose and/or
hair then and there on the spot. And that would have made us equal.
Also - off topic - he is a very likeable character. He is highly
intelligent, uses dry humor, and is cunning, shrewd and a survivor.
Plus, I really go for the whole 'tortured hero' thing. And I do see
him that way, because it is difficult living two seperate lives, which
is what a spy does.
Hermione and Dumbledore defend him all the time. They must know
something that we don't
