Pippin said: "I wonder if perhaps Voldemort, who says 'the lingering
protection his mother once gave him would reside in my veins too,' is now in
some way also protected from the Avada Kedavra curse. Dumbledore gleams
because one of his worst fears is now put to rest; Harry will not be able to
use the terrible AK curse on his enemy even in self defense, and there will
be no temptation to teach it to him. The old, tired look a moment later is
because Dumbledore realizes that this makes Harry's own survival less
probable."
My turn: I'm really glad this topic was brought up - not because I want to
say "I told you so," but rather because I had received no responses to this
post when I originally posted it before the release of OotP.
If anyone wants to read the entire post, it is Message # 59924 (on June 10,
2003), and is titled "The hand of Wormtail, the blood of Harry, and that
famous gleam..."
Below is what I wrote originally, and I really would like to get any other
thoughts there might be floating around out there about this...
"What if the gleam is not because Voldemort now has 'inherited' Wormtail's
lifedebt to Harry? What if the gleam is because Voldemort has actually
inherited from Harry's blood? Again, the gleam come right after Harry shows
off the cut on his arm, not after Harry speaks about Wormtail's sacrifice.
"Here's my story, and I'm stickin' to it: Voldemort has reincarnated, but
he's more flawed than a lot of people know. Many know about the lifedebt,
but what happens when someone is reincarnated using flesh from one person
and blood from a person the first is indebted to?
"Voldemort has a lifedebt not only to Harry, but also to himself.
"Is that possible? Yes - if he gets into a duel or a situation where he has
to defend himself from getting killed, he will have to do what is necessary
to protect himself. In order to do that, he may get into a situation where
his only option is to join the good side. That could potentially be the
only way he can save his own life."
I know that there are probably errors or flaws in this theory, but I do
believe that something along these lines will be happening, especially after
reading OotP. Again, any thoughts on this topic would be greatly
appreciated...
Thanks!
Mikie P. - who also predicted in that very same message that "the central
conflict in OotP will not involve Voldemort, but rather between those who
believe he has risen again and those who don't."
Was I channeling my inner-Trelawney that day or what?
