I thought JKR's treatment of the Harry/Cho relationship was painfully
realistic these are two emotionally damaged, and very young
people. (Thanks you, JKR, for not giving us a fairy tale romance!)
They are both very insecure about each other; Cho's jealous toward
Hermione, and Harry's discomfort with Cedric. I agree they are not
doomed as a couple because of this, and I'm hoping they mature and
blossom in year six.
On a related subject - The Marietta Thing bothers me a lot. Why
would she approach Umbridge, when exposing the DA had the potential
to result in Cho's expulsion as well as other Ravenclaws and not
just Harry? I think JKR may reveal more about the circumstances of
this in book six
perhaps Marietta's mother learned of the DA, and
went to Umbridge behind her daughter's back?
Also, Cho's defense of Marietta seemed to be as a peacemaker, but
tinged with the insecure jealousy towards Hermione - and Harry
treated Cho very badly for this. I am hoping the Harry will learn to
apologize by book six.
