Are we sure about Sirius?

Are we sure Sirius is dead? All we saw was him get hit by *some sort of spell* and fall through that curtain. Sure, it's called the Death Room, but couldn't Sirius just as well be floating around in some alternate universe? There are things "worth than death" - - could that be one of them? Could Sirius return after all?
