Golf is the closest thing to a wizarding game that Muggles have.  
There is no reason that a little white ball should sail 250 yards or 
more through the air and then be expected to go into a leeetle tiny 
hole, with trees and lakes and beaches in between.  Putting, as any 
golfer will tell you, is a Dark Art.
