2. Tonks is not a true Auror, she just told Harry that
to try to
impress him or something equally shallow. This leads
to lots of
other questions - why would she lie? Does this *prove*
that she is
some kind of spy or something?
3. McGonagall wants to appear as though she doesn't
keep up with who
has recently become Aurors. She is trying to keep a
profile of
Hogwarts Teacher Immersed in Education and Staying Out
of the
Ministry's Business. This seems most plausible,
except that she
and DD are best friends (maybe more, but that's
another story...) so
obviously she would be supporting DD and most likely
be up on the
latest Ministry news.
My reply:
I am thinking that Tonks is a intern of sorts. It
could just be that being an auror takes a great deal
of time and energy. It very well may be that nobody
has been accepted into the training program in the
last few years. But Tonks was already in the training
program. I doubt very seriously that she lied to
Harry. I don't think that it would get her very far
to just make up stories to sound impressive. But then
again I'm not really going to sit here and speculate.
As far as McGonagall saying that to cover her
connection to Dumbledore I think it is obvious to say
that she has some emotional connection to Harry and it
is clear that she felt him to be a credible person.
Which obviously goes along with Dumbledore's view of
Harry.
I think one thing is clear about McGonagall though is
that for the most part she keeps her personal life and
her school life seperate. I doubt many people truly
know of the relationship between her and the
headmaster..they would just speculate.
