I asked:
>5. Should Hagrid stay on as CoMC teacher? Am I the only one who
continues to think he's a moron?
and Echa (my new friend) responded with this wonderful comment:
> You're not alone, Jenny. I will stand by your side on that one until
the day I die. In fact, I think he's gotten worse.>
Me:
I thought so, too. I was hoping his mission to the giants would mean
more than it did. Look, even Madame Maxime parted ways with him on
the way home because of his insanely irresponsible choices. When the
Trio warned him about Umbridge and he blew them off, I was wringing my
hands with frustration and annoyance at Hagrid.
I keep wondering if JKR is holding something back from us in relation
to the giants and Hagrid. I hope she is, because if she isn't, Grawp
and the rest of the giants were a big waste of page time, IMO.
Echa says most firmly:
> Hagrid is hardly fit to be around other humans, let alone teach
students.>
I only tolerate Hagrid because Harry likes him and if Harry likes him,
then Hagrid can stay. Other than that, I must agree with you that
Hagrid is certainly not fit to teach students. Someone (I am so sorry
to have forgotten who) said that Hermione should talk to Hagrid about
his teaching. The fact that anyone thinks a teacher should sit down
and get a lecture from a student should be proof enough that the
teacher DOESN'T BELONG THERE. The day I get advice from my students
about what I am doing wrong and what I should be doing is the day I
say goodbye to my career. Either way, we've seen over and over again
that Hagrid is a fool who doesn't listen to anyone ever. Drives me
crazy, he does.

Hagrid in case it isn't clear enough :-)
