To quote cannon, I mean JKR herself.....

Boy did he hit the nail on the head. Even though I'm sure the humor 
deficient will rant on Hagrid some more, I think Ron has summed it 
up nicely, succintly and with an elegant simplicity.

Who thinks Grawp saving Hermione and Harry in the Dark Forest is a 
portent, and acknowledges that it wouldn't have happened if they had 
not been introduced to Grawp.
