Not just a giant, his brother.  Hagrid's having tamed the Thestrals came in 
handy in OoTP, and my guess it that his talents with magical creatures will 
come in handy again.

Hagrid is probably my favorite character in the series.  He's loyal, and 
great proof that you don't have to be smart to be a trusted ally.
