I come out of lurker-dom because I'm dying to see if anyone else
likes, loves, adores, worships Dumbledore much more after OoTP.
I did like him before, of course -who wouldn't- but he seemed to be
mostly in the role of an ancient explainer with a weird sense of
humor. A distant, somewhat comical figure who also held many of the
secrets.
In OoTP he's more human and also more of a strong action character,
with many of the great lines of the book:
--His defiance of Fudge. When he says "ah, yes well there's a little
snag"... "you see, I'm not going to, what is the phrase 'come
quietly'" Wow! As Phineas said, this man has style!!!
--His human feelings, talking about his mistakes, how much he loves
Harry, showing even some fear when Harry tries to move away from the
statue. And the tear broke my heart.
--We just see more of him at his job: his interviewing a possible new
teacher (Trelawney), interrogating Kreacher, giving orders to others.
--I'm not a fan of the big fight scene, and I hated the death, but
Dumbledore had some great moments there. He looked angry, active,
energetic, powerful. I don't care he's 150 in wizard years, I'm in
love with that man!!!
