I so hope this isn't true. The second I read "Metamorphmagus" I got
angry. I genuinely hope that Tonk's unusual ability doesn't come into
play for anything other than humor. I mean, when you can peg a
character as a probably spy, bad guy, or whatever in the first second
you meet them, that's just plain lame.

I don't want JKR to be predictable, and I pray she's just throwing this
out for fun, but introducing an ability in passing, then having it play
an important part in the story one or two books later has pretty much
been her m.o. It's just so obvious, though. And since she didn't even
give us any indication of limits on the ability, she has effectively
just provided herself with an easy, and in my opinion, cheap, out for
the next time she can't think of some clever resolution to a mystery.

Metamorphmagi are already more tired to unregistered animagi and
polyjuice potions combined. Grrr. Arr.

Echa, who's already having nightmares about the thousands of inevitable
e-mails pouring into my inbox about so-and-so being a metamorphmagus
and also secretly being some other person. Or whatever.
