I say:

My immediate gut reaction to her was dislike, so I'm very happy to
pitch into any conspiracy theory going. Let the character
assassination begin! ^_^

So, what do we know about this "woman"? That she's a half-blood
cousin of the Blacks and she professes to dislike her first name.
JKR made a point of letting us know her place in the family tree in
an off-hand remark of Sirius's, and we know how these off-hand
remarks come back to haunt us. In fact...*studies family tree for
about an hour*... her mother and Narcissa and Bella Lestrange are
sisters, making her Draco Malfoy's cousin. Is this a good enough
pedigree for a DE? Her mother was Sirius's cousin, so she's a 1st
cousin once removed to him (?) and Draco, incidently, is the same to
Sirius.

I'm not going anywhere with this, btw, I'm just gleaning all the
information I can off that family tree. Someone's going to accuse me
of being a DE for judging her on her breeding, but there's an awful
lot of info on her contained in that one little paragraph ("The
Noble and Most Ancient House of Black" p105 in my edition)
that makes me think we've been given it for a reason...

Okay, my theory - Sirius says Kreacher won't take orders from Tonks,
even though he's supposed to do whatever anyone in the family tells
him. He supposes it's because she's been removed from the family
tree. Maybe Kreacher actually does take orders from her, but she
orders him to act like he doesn't so as not to arouse suspicion -
while she gets up to... something. Bad. She imitates Snape's nose
at the dinner table in chapter five (p81 in my British adult ed).
We know that Snape is betraying the DE's, so is there significance
in her imitating him in particular? Is it a clue that she's
betraying the Order? Or just cos he has a funny nose?

I admit it, I'm floundering. Anyone feel inclined to make anything
out of that? Help me out here, people!
