OK, I'll have to admit I'm floundering here too. Tried following 
this thread, and others way back, but still can't understand what it 
is I'm missing. 

I kind of liked Tonks. She and Luna Lovegood are the only two people 
in OoP who seem to treat Harry "regular" and not to have ANY agenda 
about him (even if it's a "good" agenda)

And she's fun. She keeps the kids entertained that first dinner for 
Harry at OoP headquarters.

I think Harry could use a lot more of this in his life, I think I 
would. Have just finished a re-reread of OoP and want to know 
exactly what portents of her being evil there are that I'm missing. 
This is not sarcastic or ironic. Is it just a different 
folks/different tastes thing or is there canon?
