The Order are the ones to blame on this one.
I've already said Snape could've gotten word to Harry somehow. The
Potions master and brilliant Legilimens doesn't have a non-owl,
non-phoenix way of sending secure messages?
But that aside?
Tonks. Moody. Lupin. Shaq'lebolt. Molly. Arthur. The rest of the
Order.
WHY DID THEY LET SIRIUS COME?
Hermione in the first year knew the spell to petrify Neville so he
couldn't stop them from going after the Sorceror's stone.
They're a bunch of serious Wizards, including two Aurors and nobody
thought to "Stupefy!" him or "Petrificus Totalus"? They just figured
"oh, too much trouble to argue with him," and let him come along
anyway despite it being a Very Bad Idea?
This I have a problem with.
This supports the old chestnut, "Evil will always win because Good is
Dumb."
