So, because, statistically, there is more chance that an African-
American will commit a crime than a white American, it is justifiable 
to treat all African-Americans like criminals? 
The fact that *some* Muggle born wizards have betrayed the magical 
community (for which, just to remind you, we have absolutely no 
evidence) does not justify prejudice against all Muggle borns. 

Also, the precise etymology of "mudblood" is unimportant. The mere 
fact that in the Potterverse it is the equivalent to "nigger" in the 
US, should make it very clear what type of people are using it.
