of an Metamorphmagus, and 2) to help provide a connection to Sirius'
family tree. She could have done this with just the tapestry but to
have a real person, one that Sirius actually liked, made it more ...
well, realistic isn't the work I'm looking for, but the only one that
comes to mind. The connections to Molly and Arthur are too nebulous,
and Bellatrix and Narcissa too sinister. She is also closer Bill
Weasley's age, between HRH's generation, and their parents', breaking
up the age range a bit.

I've been following all of the Tonks threads (well, as many as I can-
it's possible that I've missed a few), and I think your first reason
hit it square on the head! IMO, Tonks as a DE is way too unlikely.
JKR has used this technique before - she gives us introductions or
glimpses of an idea and then when she thinks we've all but forgotten
it, it becomes a major plot point (polyjuice is probably the most
major one that comes to mind, but we also have parseltongue,
portkeys, etc.). I've been wrong before (well, ok, quite often), but
I'll be very surprised if Tonks is any more evil than she was in
OotP. I will be looking for the hidden Metamorphmagus to be revealed
in books 6 &/or 7!
