Well, we don't see anyone's broom bucking during the first flying lesson in PS/SS, but 
there is the comparison to horses. I don't have an English copy of this so I can't give 
any exact quotes, but Harry thinks that the brooms, just like horses, can tell when 
you're afraid. He could be wrong, of course, but still; if he's right then it's probably 
possible that a broom can start bucking.
I would also like to tell June how muched I LOVED your post!
