No prefects from sixth year? Or are there?

I was under the impression that once a student became a prefect he 
or she reamined a prefect for the remainder of his or her time at 
Hogwarts (unless the messed-up really big).

In other word, prefects are only chosen fifth year but stay prefects 
sixth and seventh years.

All new Prefects would be fifth years so there would be no reason 
for Hermione to tell Harry who the sixth and seveth year prefects 
were.  It's old news.

I may be wrong; that's just what I've always assumed.
