You make a very good and obvious argument that I hadn't thought of.
Though, not that any of this is clearly formulated in my mind, but I
certainly did not mean that JKR would have him decide he's had enough
of formal education a la Fred & George. I just think that they
opened up a door.

It wouldn't even necessarily be that Harry decided to leave as much
as he is(or, they all are) forced to leave (something happens in the
course of the war?). So it wouldn't be portrayed as a positive thing
to leave school.

I would think that something along these lines could be more likely
in Book/Year 7 than 6. I also feel like the timeline that the books,
thus far, have been built on (the whole school year leading up to the
final week where there is some major showdown) might have to be a
little different for Book/Year 7. Being that there will inevitably
be a Final Showdown and whatever happens will set Harry up for life
(hopefully) after Hogwarts. Maybe not though?

I'm just not feeling the Lupin=James thing, I agree with the many who
have done point-by-point arguments against this theory. But it
really might just be that I love Lupin for Lupin. I don't want him
to be anyone else.
