Okay this is my first post and haven't gotten my welcome letter yet
(but did have my house elf write me when I joined) so don't know all
the rules but I had to post my opinion on this one. I can actually
see both sides of this. From what we know of Petunia (how she is very
conscience of her appearance to people and what they think of her) I'm
thinking it may be possible that she came from a wizarding family and
she holds grudges and calls them all freaks because she did not have
any magical powers herself and therefore felt left out..

She says her family was so proud of Lily from being a wizard; now, if
you were not of a wizarding family you would not know what this entailed
so you wouldn't be as proud. Maybe that's why she married a muggle to
better fit in. Also Petunia in TOOTP is shown to have listened to
Dumbledore and taken Harry in to protect him. I would think that she'd
have to know of Dumbledore and his wiseness and power to listen to it
given to the fact that she didn't want Harry. And maybe she thought by
not telling Harry about his parents or how they died that she could keep
the truth from him and maybe he would be like her and end up not
magical or not invited to Hogwarts. Course I'm just playing devil's
advocate here. I can really understand both sides and guess we'll have
to wait and see in further books which one pans out.
