Do we know if Petunia is older or younger than Lily?   Maybe they 
were "so thrilled to have a witch in the family"  becuase Petunia is 
older and she is a squib (I really like that idea) so she wasn't 
really a witch but when they found out Lily was, then Petunia was 
jealous ?  Just another idea :)
